1. Apply to a university in the UK and get your letter of acceptance.

  • Short-Term Study Visa (available for 6 or 11 months) for students who, as part of a degree program, intend to study a short language course or take up a short research time.
  • Student Visa Tier 4 (General) for students enrolling in an academic degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD course). There is no set availability date for the Tier 4 Student Visa; the duration of your studies decides the length of this visa.

4. When and where in the UK do you apply for a student visa?

In the UK, there are two options for getting your student visa. You can apply to the UK embassy in your country for a student visa, or you can do it online on the official website of the UK government.
You will need to get your fingerprints and photographs taken at a visa application center (to get a biometric residency permit) as part of your application, depending on your nationality.

Tips about application for a visa

  • Keep in mind that the visa application process might change as 1 January 2021 approaches. Often visit the official website of the UK Government to access the most up-to-date statistics.
  • Till the last moment, do not leave your visa application. Usually, the Tier 4 Student Visa requires around 3 weeks to obtain. But you can start the visa application process 3 months in advance, depending on the location you are applying from.

UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) have, according to your level of education, minimum English language requirements for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Your education organization (sponsor) may have different criteria for the English language.

6. Documents required for a student visa to the UK 2021.

  • Completed form of visa application.
  • One passport-sized photo.
  • Passport or valid travel papers.
  • Evidence that during your stay in the UK you can support yourself: 1,265 GBP/month if you live in London and 1,015 GBP/month for the rest of the UK.
  • Parental approval, if you’re under the age of 18.
  • Proof of payment of the charge for the visa application: 348 GBP.
  • Tuberculosis research findings (for citizens of certain countries).
  • Immigrant Health Surcharge: GBP 150 per research year.
  •  Appendix 8 Self-Assessment Form with attached papers. (not appropriate if you are applying online).
